How do I use SmartCityData?
Simply select the city and state you want to get data from. Then, you may optionally search for a specific topic (eg. housing) and press Submit to generate results.
How can I sort the data?
SmartCityData provides three ways you can sort the data you query, by relevance, date, and popularity. Relevance will sort the data by keyword matching. Date will sort it by the most recently published. Popularity will sort it by amount of views/downloads.
What if I want to search for a specific word?
By the Sort dropdown, there is a Filter where the dataset title and description will be precisely matched against any words inputted.
Why are there only 100 results for some cities?
To minimize the search-time with large databases, SmartCityData might only provide the first 100 relevant datasets. To see different datasets, try searching for a different topic.
I can't find my city on the list?
SmartCityData is an actively updating open-data repository. More cities are being added every week, please stay tuned.
